Back to the Future Musical Ends London Run Before First UK Tour

Published on 24 November 2025

Back to the Future The Musical will bid farewell to the West End as it gears up for its first UK tour, which is set to open in Bristol in October 2026.

The London production will conclude its run on 12 April 2026, having played an impressive 1913 performances and collecting major accolades, such as the WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards for Best New Musical. Its global footprint continues to grow, with productions across North America, Australia, Japan and on Royal Caribbean Cruises, plus a German staging on the horizon. More than four million people worldwide have experienced the show so far.

Inspired by the iconic 1985 Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, the stage show reimagines the adventures of Marty McFly and Dr Emmett Brown for the theatre. The musical, penned by the film’s co-creator Bob Gale, features an original score by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard—both multi-award-winning artists—while also weaving in favourites from the movie soundtrack, including “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B Goode.”

Directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, the production showcases designs by Tim Hatley, choreography by Chris Bailey, illusions by Chris Fisher and technical work from an acclaimed creative team. The original film turns 40 in 2025 and remains a beloved cultural landmark.
